A history of showing up
Before the clinic there was a decade on the Heart Ventures board: Honduras, Fiji, Tanzania, Nepal, Russia, Thailand, Haiti after the quake, the Alaskan bush. The habit did not change. The address did.
Agent of change
Working hands-on with nonprofit organizations in the USA, Russia, Tanzania, Nepal, Thailand, Mexico, Honduras and Haiti, Mortensen has committed his life to making a positive impact. After decades of emergency response work, he entered medical school with a new goal: helping individuals avoid crises before they arise. Proactive care and systemic change are the only paths that move us beyond reactive response.

Yet the most critical work, day in and day out, was flying through Arctic blizzards to transport sick patients to hospitals and keeping them stable in the process.
